On Tuesday night, it was down to Chalmette to see them take on Bonnabel and it did not disappoint either. Will break down the performances of some of the college prospects in the games here.
Denham Springs
Torez Kinchen (6’3 SG, 2016) – Kinchen finished the night with 26 points and four made threes. He’s a thick guard who consistently knocks down long range shots. His scoring punch was much needed for Denham.
Altoris Odom (6’1 G, 2016) – Odom had 16 points and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line. The long armed guard can play either spot and defends at a very high level. Puts a lot of pressure on opposing guards.
Tyre Golmond (5’7 PG, 2018) – Golmond is a star running back for Denham but on the court makes his mark getting others open. Runs the show and has some of the best court vision in his class.
Episcopal
Chris Beckman Jr. (6’1 SG, 2016) – Simply put, Beckman Jr. is a sniper from long range and one of the best shooters in the state. Face guarded just about every night. His 5 three’s an 19 points despite struggles in the 3rd quarter proved just that.
Kevin Tripeaux II (6’4 G/F, 2017) – Tripeaux is usually a slasher who does his best work in and around the paint. On Monday night, he hit 3 three’s and showed off his jump shot in the mid range as well. Finished with 18 points.
Cameron Dumas (5’7 PG, 2018) – Dumas is a quick guard who handles the ball primarily for Episcopal. The young point woke up in the 4th and scored 9 in the quarter (14 overall) to help the attempted comeback.
Chalmette
Mitchell Robinson (7’0 F/C, 2017) – Robinson is one of top players in any class in the state. The big man hit 3 three’s (24 points) and finished with a triple double. He has elite level timing for shot blocking and athleticism to add to his large frame.
Blake Coker (5’10 SG, 2016) – Coker is the lone senior who gets extended minutes for Chalmette. Last night he hit 5 three’s and finished with 20 points. His shooting gave Chalmette the lead in the 3rd and kept them in it in the 4th.
Carlton Campbell (5’9 PG, 2017) – Campbell doesn’t score much for the Owls but runs the show each night and puts pressure up top defensively. He is responsible for calling most of the shots on the court.
Bonnabel
Joseph Thompson (6’9 F, 2017) – Thompson has continued to grow both physically and his game. Does most of his work on the perimeter and in transition as a ball handler. Had some foul trouble defending small guards last night.
Terry Collins (6’2 G, 2018) – Collins is a scoring guard who led Bonnabel with 20 last night. Plenty of plishing up to do to his game but there is a lot of raw ability both as a ball handler and as a shooter. Finished above the rim as well.
Jarod Carter (6’8 C, 2016) – Carter came off the bench last night and was key in keeping it close before the big 4th quarter. Defends post with size and has a few back to the basket post moves. Not afraid of competition and battles inside.
