Findlay came out the gate strong, opening up the game on a 9-0 run. However, once Pinnacle got settled in they were able to score some quick baskets from sophomore Patrick Kelly and junior Nate Gorsech. Though the Pioneers competed for a while, the over all strength, size, and athleticism of the Pilots overmatched them, ending with a lopsided 95-53 finish.
Pinnacle
Name | Pos | Hgt | Class |
---|---|---|---|
Nik Mains | PF | 6'9 | 2016 |
Mains looked a bit rattled throughout the first half. The athleticism of Findlay seemed to overwhelm him early. However, he got settled in in the second half, making good moves in the paint and playing more aggressively on the offensive end. Committed to Air Force Academy. | |||
AJ Elliot | PF | 6'6 | 2016 |
Elliot struggled early but began coming into his own. He had a slow start missing some easy bunnies but, once he got settled in, was a factor on the boards for the Pioneers. Committed to Point Loma. | |||
Nate Gorsech | G | 5'11 | 2017 |
Nate was very aggressive from the jump against Findlay. The junior guard came into the game and knocked in a quick 3 that he shot with confidence. He didn’t back down from the bigger, more athletic guards. While he made some turnovers, all of his mistakes were aggressive ones. An NCAA D3/NAIA D2 prospect. | |||
Patrick Kelly | PF | 6'6 | 2018 |
Kelly may have been the brightest of stars for Pinnacle on this day. The sophomore forward came out aggressive while still playing with poise. He made shots from the perimeter, rebounded in traffic, and finished with nice moves at the rim. He may have been overmatched athletically but was not overwhelmed as he performed at a very productive level. Low and mid NCAA D1s along with small college coaches should all be keeping tabs. | |||
Mason Johnson | SF | 6'5 | 2018 |
Mason is a player with a lot of upside. He played out of position on Saturday in the post but showed his ability to stretch the floor with his 3 point shooting ability. He has a quick release and wasn’t afraid to let them go. Low NCAA D1 and small colleges should all be aware of him. | |||
Trent Brown | PG | 5'10 | 2019 |
Brown seemed a bit timid early but his skill level was on display. He used his handle to get past pressure and create open shots for his teammates. |
Findlay Prep (NV)
Name | Pos | Hgt | Class |
---|---|---|---|
Carlos Johnson | SF | 6'4 | 2016 |
The former Shadow Mountain wing is a physically mature high schooler with explosive athleticism. He is very agile for his size and finishes above the rim with power. He was great in transition. Signed with UNLV. | |||
Skylar Mays | G | 6'4 | 2016 |
Mays has a chance to be a special player. The 6’4” combo guard has great size for his position and plays with poise. He has a great feel for the game, understands how to use his body, and can make plays. Signed with LSU. | |||
O'Shea Brissett | PF | 6'9 | 2017 |
A very lengthy and athletic 4 man that runs the floor like a deer and brings energy. Brissett was active on the glass and finished around the rim. He blocked some shots and also stepped out to knock down a 3. A high major prospect. | |||
Tristen Clark | PF | 6'9 | 2017 |
A sizey 4-man with great mobility and length. Though he didn’t see the ball much Clark was an effective shot blocker and rebounder for the Pilots. Committed to Baylor. | |||
Markus Howard | G | 5'11 | 2017 |
Howard was very comfortable back home in Phoenix. He lit it up from the perimeter from the start of the game, shooting with a ton of confidence. While playing off the ball, he played with a great amount of poise and has become a much more efficient player than he was a season ago. | |||
PJ Washington | F | 6'8 | 2017 |
A physically gifted prospect, Washington has a big frame and is, both, mobile and athletic. He spent a lot of time playing at the power forward spot, posting and exploding over defenders for easy shots. He is very good in transition and often powered through defenders for finishes. A high major prospect. |
