Continue ReadingNiles Notre Dame senior shooting guard Lucas Simon is a 6’5” guard that has go go gadget type length. He knows how to use it on the defensive end. Offensively he handles the ball well and makes solid passes. Never wows you, but is a team player that does the little things and will be a fit at a D3 or NAIA program.
The senior broke down his game and what he brings to the table at the college level.
“I think my size is definitely a strength of mine. Being a taller guard. I can guard the one through the three. Defensively I pride myself on trying to stop the guy that I am guarding. My playmaking offensively is my strength. Getting in the paint and opening up stuff for others. Being a taller guard at the next level is an advantage for me.”
He is mainly talking to a trio of programs at this point.
“My list is pretty much down to Augustana, DePauw, and St. John’s in Minnesota. Those are the schools I have been talking to and have narrowed it down to those three.”
Augustana is a program that he has taken a visit too.
“Obviously it is a top D3 school in the nation. I loved the campus when I visited there. They have a great academic program. Visiting there I loved everything about it.”
Simon also visited DePauw.
“Academically it is an elite school and basketball there is also good.”
He discussed a timetable for a decision and what he will be looking for in a fit.
“Right now I am playing out the season and see what I get. What I like in a school is a nice vibrant campus with a solid basketball program and academics is huge too.”
