He is thin, but not afraid to get in the paint where he finishes with runners and athleticism at the hoop. Solid quickness off the dribble and slippery through traffic. Pure scorer that excels at attacking off the bounce. Potential on shot. Projects as a quality D3/NAIA prospect in the class of 2016.
Arenas gave us a self-scout of his game.
“I think I am able to hit the outside shot. People identify me as a driver. Over the past couple years I have been able to add a mid-range game coming off the dribble and pulling up. I really worked on my free throws this off season. This year I am shooting about 87%. Through AAU and Maine South I have been working on my shot and in the weight room to add some strength.”
He ran with Team NLP on the travel team circuit this past summer.
“It was a lot of new guys. This was the first time I was meeting those guys and it was good to build a relationship with them. I thought we had a pretty good season. We were able to make it to the national championship in D2 down in Kentucky. We lost on a buzzer beater, but it was nice to learn the strengths of my other teammates. Overall it was a great experience.”
Where does his recruitment stand?
“I am hearing from Spring Hill, Washington University, University of Chicago, St John’s, Illinois Wesleyan, and a little bit of Brown.”
No offers from the D2’s, but has quite a bit of interest from D2, D3, and NAIA programs.
