“It just comes from the heart actually,” Surface said about his scoring. “Just have to have the heart and mindset to do well every game and have your ‘A’ game every game.”
The 6-foot-4 senior can score nearly every way on the court. He has a solid jumpshot and doesn’t shy away from driving to the basket against nearly anyone who guards him. It is why he is ranked the No. 49 prospect in the Prep Hoops Indiana Top 200.
With this ability, college coaches have told him he could play the small forward position or potentially the two spot. This means he could go against some bigger players if he is at the three, but he isn’t afraid of it.
“I know from playing that it’s not that hard to play against big guys if I have to,” Surface said. “Just have to body them and such and it should be fun and give me a challenge.”
With the growing interest, Surface said he won’t make a decision until after the high school season and has no order or favorites. He has not scheduled any official visits, as he plans to take those later this spring as well.
Until then, he’ll just continue working to improve and show off what he can do.
“I’m mostly working on defensive stuff and going to the basket more and finishing over taller guys and just my athleticism,” he said.
