The Hettinger/Scranton Night Hawks were forgotten after dropping their first three games of the season (to some of the best Class B teams in North and South Dakota) but their luck completely flipped at the Mandan Holiday Tournament.
“We have had a bit of a rocky start but we are coming together as a team and getting a lot better,” Hayden said after we talked with him for his player of the week honor.
“A top moment was when we defended our Mandan Holiday Tournament Championship from last year by beating Shilo Christian again.”
The Night Hawks beat Grant County by 55 points, Turtle Lake-Mercer/McClusky by 25, and then knocked off Class B number one Shiloh Christian 51-47.
“We all just put more effort in on the defensive end than we were doing at the beginning of the season and our offense comes along with that,” said Hayden.
Sadowsky out scored one of the teams by himself in the Mandan event and was over 20 plus for all three games. Hayden is a top ten level player in state and will definitely play college basketball.
“I plan on going into exercise science and playing ball but do not know where yet. Williston State has intrigued me some but I’m still very undecided.”
