The season is going well but Ethan knows the competition they play will continue to be at a high level including three Minnesota squads having strong years.
“We are 4-2, we got some big wins and next week we have four games against teams that are big, physical, and have winning records (Breckenridge 8-3, Morris 6-2, Hamlin 3-1, and Fergus Falls 10-0) which aren’t going to be cake walks,” Kranhold said.
“We need to continue to play good team defense, rebound, and know our roles for us to keep getting better.”
The 6-foot-6 185 pound Kranhold was up for player of the week last week on the heels of strong performances against St. Thomas More and Elk Point Jefferson plus he’s played well against Ortonville and Clark Willow Lake recently too.
Ethan is averaging just over 16 points a game this far including a key double-double against St. Thomas More. He’s scoring above the rim on the break, knocking down free throws regularly, and hitting at the arc.
“I have improved a lot since last year, I am mentally strong this year which doesn’t help just me out but my team,” Ethan said. “And alright, I can shoot the ball better than what I have been and finish around the rim stronger.”
College programs are definitely looking for a skilled 6-foot-6 forward with the skills to play on the perimeter but the size to guard several spots.
“I want to be a physical education teacher, but no idea on where I want to go, Kranhold explained. “Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, and NDSCS have contacted me about playing basketball.”
