The 6-4 forward was a nice compliment to Alex Hendricks, a very productive scorer, but the Falcons ended up losing to Battle Lake in the first round at Williams Arena.
“I don’t know if we have a great chance (to get back to state), we would have to beat a couple really good teams,” Minnick told NHR. “But if we play good and get on a roll, anything could happen.”
Minnick moved from a supplemental guy to the best player for ACGC, and the team is adjusting accordingly.
“We have three juniors who are our bigs, and they all play key roles on the team and need to all have good games for us to be successful. We also have a junior guard who is a good defensive player. No other seniors play any significant minutes,” he said.
A recent milestone for Minnick was reaching 1,000 career points. With his size and experience, there are some schools pursuing Minnick as a sleeper D3 prospect.
“I’m honestly really undecided on what I’m planning on doing for college, but basketball is definitely an option for me,” Minnick said. “I have heard from a couple small colleges… I think two in Wisconsin and then Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.”
“The cost will play a big factor in my decision. Depending on the opportunities I get, I want to go somewhere that I can get the education that I would be interested in and be comfortable with the campus. I would possibly play ball if I can find the right place.”
