Continue ReadingMarian Catholic has a loaded roster this season. One prospect that has emerged is 2017 small forward Austin Richie. He has been the most productive wing for Marian Catholic this year. The 6’5” forward has a thick body. He isn’t a great athlete, but what he does best is shoot it from the perimeter in the catch and shoot! D2’s should take a look.
Richie talked about how he is playing this year.
“I like the way I am playing right now. I feel like I am asserting myself. My teammates give me so much confidence and my coach believes in me. I feel like I am coming out playing confident.”
What does he bring to the table as a prospect?
“I feel like I bring a lot of energy and heart. I can shoot the ball. I feel I can be a leader. I communicate a lot with my teammates. I just enjoy the game.”
The junior also plays baseball and has never participated on the hoops travel team circuit, but plans on playing this spring. He says he does want to play basketball at next level. Three D1 programs have expressed initial interest.
“Wright State, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois.”
