Aaron Cash- SO. Millwood
Aaron elevated his game against a tough Norcom team and exhibited a strong set of skills. He shot the ball with confidence from multiple spots on the floor, knocking down both mid-range and deep shots with regularity. He also has above the rim athleticism and used it effectively to finish in traffic. He neared a double-double with 11 points and 9 boards on the day.
Justin Jasper- SO. St. Christopher’s
Justin played a big part in helping his team get transition buckets. By sprinting back on every change of possession and filling the lanes on the fast break he earned himself some easy and important points. The lengthy and athletic wing also showed some potential as a defensive stopper and played smart off the ball defense.
Noah Singer- SR. Kellam
Noah scored from all over the court and demonstrated the versatility that makes him a unique player. The big man made some strong moves to the rim off the dribble, stepped outside for some jumpers and even added in some nice turn around moves in the paint.
Bryan Hart – Hampton Roads Academy
Bryan did a little bit of everything for the navigators and showed to have a solid all around perimeter game. Throughout the game he was constantly moving without the ball leading to open shots off screens and cuts. Defensively, he brought the same energy and aggressiveness helping him finish with 8 well-earned boards and 4 steals.
Nyzaiah Chambers- SO. Oscar Smith
Nyzaiah had a huge defensive impact for the Tigers and showed he has the ability to guard size and skill in the post. Matched against a very good Trinity Episcopal front court, he did a good job denying entry to the post and forcing his man to catch the ball off the block. With a mix of effort and strength, he had a huge presence in the paint and didn’t let up until the rebound was secured.
Aaron Duhart – JR. Trinity Episcopal
Aaron showed skill in many different facets of the game and his steady play proved to be vital in a close win for the Titans. Offensively, he displayed good ball handling skills and a willingness to make the extra pass leading to some beautiful team offense. His biggest contribution came from outstanding on ball defense which disrupted a normally fluid and efficient Oscar Smith back court.
Jayden Nixon- JR. STAB
Jayden displayed a dynamic all around wing game, with the ability to score off the bounce or cash in on open jumpers. His multi-dimensional skill set and knack for taking what the defense gave him led to a very efficient and productive game. He finished with 19 points on 8-10 shooting from the field and was 3-5 from long distance.
Rashawn Cook- JR. Williamsburg Christian Academy
Rashawn brought high energy and hustle to both sides of the ball. The junior combo guard played tenacious perimeter defense and had an uncanny ability to get into the passing lanes. On the offensive end he handled the ball well and was able to repeatedly create open shots for himself off of the dribble.
Gerrard Simpkins-SR. Bishop Sullivan
Gerrard used a combination of size and guard skills to help the Crusaders remain competitive throughout the contest. He also demonstrated above average ball handling talent that allowed him to consistently penetrate the defense and find creative ways to score around the rim. He accumulated half of his teams’ total points, finishing with 20 on the night.
Tommie Pope- SO. I.C. Norcom
Tommie proved to be a key component to the juggernaut that is Norcom basketball. While the stats aren’t as prolific as some of his teammates, his grit and willingness to do the little things has been paramount to his team’s success. As an important piece to the back court, he showed he can handle the ball under pressure and hit big shots when called upon. On top of that, he’s a tough on ball defender and often guards the opposing teams’ best perimeter player.
Jemeil King- Sr. Blue Ridge
Jemiel played limited time for the Barons, but with his aggressive play found a way to contribute in nearly every category. He exhibited good athleticism from the 3 spot and he had no problem finishing with contact when attacking the rim. He brought the same intensity to the defensive side of the ball and provided a nice jolt for his team
Marvin Trotman- JR. Atlantic Shores
Marvin showed he could do whatever was needed and his efforts played a big part in the win for Atlantic shores. Using his length and athleticism, he seemed to be able to get the basket at will and had the skill to finish with both hands. He displayed a quick release jumper that seemed to be going every time he shot.
