Continue ReadingThe new year is here and as we’ve said over the past few weeks, that means district and rivalry games are here. There are still a few tournaments, Hall of Fame events, and regular match-ups left but here we will review the past week and tell you of things that are coming this week.
- Tournaments came to a close and the pre-season front runners are coming to the forefront as victors in those.
- Red Stick Classic: Catholic won and Tolliver Freeman (6’2 G, 2016) was the MVP.
- Sunkist Shooutout: Lafayette Christian won and Kalob LeDoux (6’3 SG, 2016, McNesse) was named MVP. We named Robert Williams (6’9 F, 2016, Texas A&M) MVP despite loss in championshiop game
- EBR Parish Tournament: Scotlandville won and Jaylen Hawkins (6’0 PG, 2017) was named MVP.
- In Texas, Landry-Walker, Southern Lab, and Peabody all competed in a tournament that saw Lamar Peters (6’0 PG, 2016, Miss St) and Landry-Walker make a run before falling. Peabody and Southern Lab each had nice showings as well.
- University Lab won NXT LVL Hoops Fest in Tennessee. Unsigned Jalen Johnson (6’7 G/F, 2016) was named the MVP. His stock is soaring.
- Malik Crowfield (6’3 SG, 2016) from Riverside will visit VCU this weekend as one of the top ranked uncommitted players in Louisiana Class of 2016.
