They dropped five of their first six games before beginning to turn things around. Since then, the Millers have reeled off six straight wins, the last three coming at the 20th Annual Baltimore City Public School Basketball Academy tournament at Morgan State this weekend.
On Friday, Milford Mill had surprisingly little trouble in scoring a 51-41 victory over Edmondson from Baltimore City. The Millers jumped out early, and the Red Storm could not catch them.
The Baltimore Sun reported that DaMarco Lee and Dominique Miller scored 18 and 12 points, respectively, to push Milford Mill. The Millers did a good job in the game of controlling the pace and tempo and basically making plays when they needed to.
Edmondson tried to rally in the second half but each time the Red Storm made a move, the Millers stopped it. Demitrious Hoskins topped the Red Storm with 16 points in the loss.
Milford Mill had a tougher time on Saturday in a 52-45 victory over Friends, a local private school that took an eight-point lead earlier in the game, according to The Sun.
Lee and Miller again led the way, scoring 19 and 16, as the Millers scored the game’s last nine points during the final four minutes. Milford Mill struggled with Friends’ tough zone defense until finally getting going towards the end.
The six-game winning streak improved Milford Mill’s record to 7-5.
