Marvin Bateman Wins Wisconsin Dells Player of the Week
Congratulations to Belleville Althoff 2017 small forward Marvin Bateman on winning this week’s Wisconsin Dells Player of the Week! Bateman received 30,654 total votes (50.53%) narrowly defeating Westinghouse’s Joshua Roberts who had 29,384 (48.43%). Thank you to the over 60,000 people who cast votes throughout the week.
Bateman earned the award with a 23 point performance against Mt. Vernon last week where he was on fire from three. At 6’5” Bateman is one of the top pure shooters in the 2017 class across the state and is starting to open up the eyes of college coaches.
We spoke with him about how their season is going.
“It is going better. Last year was my breakout year and this year I am stating to get a main role in the offense. I am helping the team.”
His role on this team is primarily to be a sharp shooter, but he is just happy to fit in where ever he can.
“Come off the bench and do whatever I can to make this team better.”
What areas of his game has he seen the most growth?
“I think I have grown more on being confident going to the basket and pulling up off the dribble.”
No offers yet for the junior, but he is starting to receive more college interest.
“Nebraska, Wichita State, SEMO, and Western Illinois.”
