King and Killeya-Jones earn All American Honors
The McDonald’s All American committee announced last night their selections for the 39th annual McDonald’s All American game. Of the over 300 nominees, only 30 of the best players across the nation were chosen, and the two highest ranked prospects in the state of Virginia made the list. VJ King of Paul VI and Sacha Killeya-Jones of Virginia Episcopal School were honored by being chosen for the most prestigious All-Star game in the country.
King, who is the 27th ranked prospect in the nation by ESPN, has led Paul VI the last three seasons, helping turn them into one of the best programs on the east coast. The 6’6 wing has a smooth offensive game and is a walking mismatch, making his game one that should translate well to the college level and beyond. King spent the summer on Team Takeover, where he helped lead them to the EYBL Championship game, and is leading the DMV area with an efficient 25.2 points per game, and he committed to the University of Louisville earlier in the summer. He was also selected to the Jordan Brand Classic at the Barclays Center earlier this week.
Killeya-Jones had a whirlwind of a summer after decommitting from UVA, which he originally verbally pledged to at the end of his junior season. The 6’11 athletic center spent most of the summer dominating the Under Armour Circuit with Team Felton, and joined Team Loaded VA the last weekend of the live period where he helped them win the Adidas Summer Uprising Championship, where he was named MVP. He jumped up the nationally rankings, where he currently sits at 31 by ESPN, and committed to Kentucky over the summer as part of the number one recruiting class in the country. He’s been averaging a stellar double-double of 23 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks per game for VES this season.
Stay tuned to Vantage Hoops for in-depth interviews, including quotes from the players and coaches, later this week.
