MSJ held off a number of GCS rallies and hung on for a 60-57 victory, as reported by The Baltimore Sun. The Gaels made a number of big plays in the final 75 seconds to lock up the victory.
The Dragons tied the game in the final two minutes but Mount Saint Joseph kept answering. The Sun reported that Darryl Morsell scored with 1:03 left, Randy Miller added a key free throw later, and the Gaels made some tough stops on defense to hold on for the win.
For St. Joe, Pierre Johnson led the way with 12 points. He also added seven rebounds and five assists. Morsell added 10 and those two were the lone Gaels to reach double figures.
The Sun also said that an 11-0 streak in the first half helped the Gaels, and the win moved them to 13-2 overall this year and 5-0 in Black Division play in the conference.
Isaiah Burnett topped GCS with 20 points, which led both teams, as the Dragons now are 9-5 overall and 5-3 in MIAA action. .
