PG Chase Adams (Marian Catholic – 2018)
The sophomore point guard came out aggressive looking to score early with a couple explosive drives off the bounce. After that he was in distribution mode. Adams has a great feel for the game and is a heady point guard. Overall he makes sound decisions with the basketball when drawing defenders. Effective in the drive and kick game as well as getting through the defense and finding posts inside to score on quick dishes. He was active defensively as well in this contest. One of the top point guard prospects in the sophomore class. Adams had 8 points and 5 dimes.
PG Brandon Hurt (Marian Catholic – 2018
Hurt is the bigger guard in the Marian Catholic backcourt at 6’0” with solid strength. He is powerful with the ball in his hands and handles it well in traffic. Gets to the hoop and continues to show improvements in his all-around game. He had 13 points.
SF Austin Richie (Marian Catholic – 2017)
Thick bodied wing that been productive throughout the season. He is a plus shooter especially off the catch, but also elevated nicely showing potential on a 15 foot pull up jumper. Used his strength to get to the rim a couple times finishing on a sweet drive to close the first quarter. D2 schools need to track him. Richie went for 12 points and 7 rebounds.
C Myles Howard (Marian Catholic – 2016)
The long and lanky 6’7” post is still fairly raw on the offensive end. Most of his points come on tip ins and dunks off passes. Defensively though he is very intriguing. Howard was a presence especially in the first half with his length causing havoc swatting shot after shot. He has good anticipation coming from the weakside protecting the rim on drives. At the D2 level he would be a very valuable commodity on the defensive end with upside as he does move well and flashes offensively.
SG Chamar Hawkins (Marist – 2016)
Hawkins is a physical 6’3” shooting guard with a combination of athleticism, strength, and skill that make him intriguing especially at the small college level. He is best attacking off the bounce where he shows a burst of speed and can put combination moves together to get in the lane. Finishes well through contact getting to the line on a regular basis. Very strong on the interior. Decent passer for an off guard in the half court making nice reads. D3/NAIA/JUCO programs should take a look here as he has go to scorer ability at those levels. Hawkins had 23 points and 8 boards.
PG Mariuce Commander (Marist – 2018)
Commander is a 5’11” point guard that showed quite a bit in this game. The lefty is best in the open floor where he uses his speed to push the ball. Has the ability to get both himself and teammates involved in the transition game. Plus athlete who displays a clean shooting stroke especially from mid-range. Had one play where he moved without the ball, caught, and drilled a 15 foot jumper with elevation. One to watch moving forward in this class! Commander finished with 13 points.
