Monday
#10 Mountain Pointe at Dobson
After a solid win over Chandler, the 10th ranked Pride are seeming to hit their stride. They will be tested heavily by a Dobson squad that ranks right outside the top ten. The Mustangs have some quality wins and will look to revenge their 1 point December loss to Mountain Pointe. Expect Dobson to finish on top. This is Monday’s D1 Game of the Night.
Tuesday
Perry at Chandler
Two teams right outside the top ten, expect this to be a heckuva matchup. Perry went 0-2 last week but fell to #2 Corona del Sol and #5 Highland. The Wolves fell to Desert Vista but beat Highland very soundly on the road. There’s going to be a ton of momentum for Chandler going into the game. Expect them to emerge victorious.
Chaparral at #6 Desert Mountain
Desert Mountain will look to bounce back after falling to Mountain View last week. They take on a Chaparral team that had a big win over Desert Ridge but, previously, lost 3 straight. Expect Desert Mountain to prevail.
Dobson at Desert Ridge
Desert Ridge is a team that has been up and down this season. They have the talent and have recorded some very big wins. Dobson will be coming off of a tough Monday night matchup with Mountain Pointe so they may be a little fatigued. In addition, they don’t have the personnel to matchup with sophomore standout Timmy Allen so expect the Jaguars to win.
#7 Gilbert at #5 Highland
Highland suffered their first loss of 2016 last week but will be focused for another top ten matchup as they take on the Tigers. Gilbert has been inconsistent this season but, when Chris Bowling is making perimeter shots, they are a force. The Hawks, however, have a big mismatch on the interior which will be the deciding factor.
#1 Mesa at Mesa Mountain View
While Mountain View isn’t ranked in the top ten any more they are a team that can beat anyone on any given night. The Toros will have the gym packed out for this rivalry matchup. Mesa has looked to slow the game down against their more talented opponents and, thus far, it has worked but Mountain View has the personnel and skillset to fit any style of play. Expect the crowd to help carry the Toros over the Jackrabbits. This is the D1 Game of the Night.
