The storm dumped two to three feet of snow on the state and many schools were closed for the entire week. Some private schools opened up later in the week but not much was done on the court, either in games or practices.
How everyone’s schedules will be affected, in private and public schools, probably won’t be known until the various schools re-open and everyone tries to re-set everything. Will teams lose games or will it be a situation where they need to play some extras in a week or two?
That question is going to have to be answered because the various sectional (formerly known as regional) playoffs are coming up for the state public schools — they’re set to begin on Feb. 26. The various private school leagues also have their playoffs around the same time. So that leaves all the schools about four weeks to fit everything back in.
Teams may have to just drop some games due to scheduling issues. It happens in other sports. At least one public school system in Maryland will not be re-scheduling its county championship track meet. They’re just going to skip it.
The question now is what happens from here. It will be interesting. Stay tuned.
