SF Chris Payton (Bloomington)
Payton is a 6’5” wide shouldered small forward that has big time athleticism just like his older brother. Impresses on the interior with his play above the rim on alley oop slams and offensive rebounds. Flashes ability off the bounce from the high post although for his high school team plays mostly inside. Plus passer on the interior. Comes from the weakside to block shots. High ceiling for this freshman wing!
SF Isaac Stanback (Hillcrest)
Stanback is a 6’4” small forward that has long arms and elite athleticism. He is super bouncy and that leads to a high activity level around the hoop. He is a plus rebounder that is aggressive on the glass. Offensively a lot of his points come off rebounds, but does flash perimeter skill. Skill level definitely needs some development. He went for 7 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
C Taeyon Neal (St. Mel)
Neal is a big bodied 6’8” freshman post that has a great frame and size for his young age. Right now he is raw around the hoop, but has potential. Presence defensively already.
PG Davarion Jacobs (Uplift)
The 5’11” point guard is a big time scorer already. He has a strong body and knows how to use it bullying his way into the lane where he finishes in the paint with runners and getting to the hoop for layups. Jacobs can also shoot it from three like his older brother. Area to work on would be cutting down the turnovers. He had 21 points (7-15 FG) and 4 assists.
PF Spencer Boehm (New Trier)
The 6’8” freshman had a tough task checking one of the top post prospects in the country in 7’0” Brandon McCoy. He played tough and showed some offensive skill. The crafty post utilized a jump hook and jump shot from 10 feet and in. Also is a sound passer.
PG Eric Cannon (Waubonsie Valley)
The next star guard at Waubonsie could be this 5’10” point guard. He has an excellent feel for the game. Gets in the lane with ease and is an adequate pull up mid-range shooter. One to watch going forward!
PG Fred Cleveland (Urban Prep Englewood)
Yes Cleveland is definitely small at probably about 5’1”, but he has game. He is a great shooter that has NBA range on his shot. Really shoots it well off the catch. Right now that is what he is by far best at. Handles it solid. Finished with 11 points and 2 assists.
SG Perry Cowan (DePaul Prep)
Cowan is one of the state’s premier freshman prospects. The 6’4” 2019 two guard is super athletic and smooth attacking off the bounce. Cowan had trouble finishing in the paint with any consistency in this game. Did hit a three point shot. Defensively has upside.
