Da’Monte Williams (Peoria Manual)
This Peoria Manual 2017 combo guard is one of the elite prospects in the state regardless of class. Williams is a powerful and athletic 6’3” guard that can change the game in so many ways. He is a great scorer with a sweet pull up jumper and attacks the rim with explosion. Plus rebounder for a guard as he crashes the glass with ferocity. His passing continues to make strides every time we see him. Defensively he is a factor both getting steals and blocks.
Tai Bibbs (West Chicago)
Bibbs is a point guard that made some noise playing on the travel team circuit with Mercury Elite in the summer. He has continued that buzz into his junior campaign. Bibbs is a projectable point guard with long arms and a good frame. He is a smooth athlete that accelerates with the ball in his hands with quickness off the bounce. Works well around screens. Solid shooter that can hit from both mid-range and three.
Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West)
Kirk is a 6’2” combo guard that continues to develop into a point guard. The long and rangy Kirk is quick and explosive with the ball in his hands getting in and out of tight spaces with ease. He shows leadership and command of his team. Kirk is an improving jump shooter that can drill pull up jump shots.
Allonte Pickens (Curie)
Curie’s point guard isn’t afraid to let it fly from deep. The 5’10” junior is at his best in catch and shoot situations. He can get on fire from deep and his shooting will be key for Curie if they want to make a deep run in the playoffs. Pesky defender.
Rico Sylvester (Belleville East)
The Belleville East 6’1” junior point guard has a good feel for the game and continues to improve his vision as a lead guard. As a scorer Sylvester is most effective using runners in the lane and knocking down spot up jump shots. He is getting to the foul line at a higher rate as well.
Jake Schutter (Providence Catholic)
He has decent length and plays with a motor. Schutter is strong with the ball in his hands and makes plays! He is an efficient scorer. The junior has range on his shot to well beyond the three point arc and is pretty consistent with his mechanics and accuracy. He is effective getting in the lane with his handles where he finishes or gets to the charity stripe. The guard makes a high amount of trips to the foul line. Solid rebounder and passer, but is a scoring lead guard first.
Matt Stritzel (Niles Notre Dame)
The Niles Notre Dame 2017 point guard has opened eyes this season. This 6’4” junior point guard has a nice feel for the game making quality decisions with the basketball especially on the interior. He can catch fire from three with a plus shot from beyond the three point arc.
