G Javon Freeman (Seton _ 2018)
This 6’4” shooting guard has long arms and a rangy frame. He can really handle the basketball getting in and out of tight spaces with ease. Freeman has an excellent feel for the game of when to score and pass. He has a mature understanding for a sophomore to go along with plus athleticism. The Seton 2018 prospect is a good passer that has some combo guard potential with his passing. Freeman had several spectacular dishes against Von Steuben in both transition and the half court. Defensively has upside as his length causes problems for opponents. He finished with 13 points in a win.
PG Chase Adams (Marian Catholic _ 2018)
Marian Catholic got a huge boost from their 5’4” point guard when they needed it. Adams ignited their offense which was doing nothing in the second quarter with a pair of catch and shoot threes. Late in the game he made plays on both ends of the floor. Defensively he pressured the ball causing turnovers and offensively had multiple intangible plays that got them the W. He had 14 points in the win.
PG Brandon Hurt (Marian Catholic _ 2018)
The 6’0” Marian Catholic combo guard has a strong frame. He showed a nice passing feel with several drive and kick dishes and vision in transition with long passes for buckets. As a scorer was most effective hitting catch and shoot threes. He had 6 points.
SG Landers Nolley (Curie _ 2018)
Nolley is a 6’5” shooting guard that transferred into Curie from Georgia that has had some hype. Flashed some of that ability early. He has great height for his position with long arms and solid strength. Looked good in transition on several scores including one where he went end to end. Smooth athlete that has a clean looking jump shot. Potential as a passer making a couple nice passes inside. He had 8 points in his debut.
PF Treavon Martin (Curie _ 2018)
The 6’7” four man is long and lanky. Super athletic. High points rebounds on both ends of the floor. High activity level on the glass. Shot blocking presence defensively. Raw offensively.
PG David Forrest (Foreman _ 2018)
Forrest is a strong and stocky 6’2” combo guard that is powerful attacking the hoop. Had a couple nice passes in the half court. Defensively uses strength well. He had 7 points.
SG Rafael Cruz (Von Steuben – 2018)
The 6’1” sophomore guard is the best guard on Von Steuben, but wasn’t particularly impressive in the first half. Cruz jacked up a bunch of bad shots in the first half and was benched for the entire third quarter. He came back in the fourth and showed the skills that we had heard about. Couple slippery drives through traffic and wing threes in junk time. Went for 10 points.
C Taeyon Neal (Providence St. Mel _ 2019)
This was my first time seeing Neal and he flashed potential. The 6’8” center has a strong and athletic frame. He is mobile for his size and very coordinated. Snatches rebounds with his huge hands. Showed some footwork around the hoop on a couple moves. His most impressive play of the day was when he grabbed two offensive rebounds and finished with a dunk. Definitely a lot of upside with this young post!
