SG Jaylan Catledge (Richards – 2017)
Catledge is a 6’5” power wing that is constantly in attack mode. He is impressive with his ability to get in the lane and finish through contact. The junior is explosive and powerful around the hoop. He handles it well and can also use a runner to score. Shows he can post up smaller defenders on the block. Needs to work on his jump shot. Plus rebounder for his position. Went for 21 points. Worth a look at the D2 level going forward.
G Eddie Burnett (Providence St. Mel _ 2017)
Burnett is a slick handling 6’0” combo guard that is slippery with the ball through traffic. The junior can get in the paint on a consistent basis winning off the bounce where he looks to score. Finishes well around the hoop with athletic layups and runners. Also is an adequate shooter that can hit it in the pull up and off the catch. Rebounds well for position. Needs to improve as an all-around floor general to take his game to next level. He had 22 points and 9 rebounds.
SF Trevian Bell (Joliet West _ 2017)
It wasn’t a dominant performance from one of the state’s top junior wings, but he still contributed scoring and on the boards. Bell is a strong and athletic wing that didn’t really play very assertive attacking from the perimeter. For his high school team he plays mostly inside where he had a couple nice finishes including a monster tip dunk! Leaked out several times for transition layups. Defensively had a couple steals and blocks mixed in. Bell had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Remains a solid mid-major target and top 20 player in the 2017 class.
PG Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West _ 2017)
Solid all-around game for Kirk. He did have a few turnovers in a very sloppy game by both teams, but he had several nice dimes in the half court finding teammates for easy shots both on the perimeter and inside. Kirk is quick with the ball in transition pushing the rock. Hit the glass at a nice clip. The junior point guard had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Low-major and D2 programs need to take a look.
SF Elijah Ward (Joliet West _ 2017)
Ward is a 6’5” forward with long arms and great mobility. He has some strength in his upper body. Handles it well in the open floor and can guard on the perimeter. Skill set is still emerging, but there is a lot of potential there. Sound wing rebounder. One to continue to track.
PG Dwayne Rose (Crete _ 2017)
Rose really struggled against Joliet West. The athletic guard couldn’t get his jump shot to fall throughout the entire game. Never got into the flow of the offense. Had a couple nice drives where he hit free throws. Finished with 5 points.
PF Ahmari Dantzler (Providence St. Mel _ 2017)
At 6’7” Dantzler has a long and lanky frame for the power forward position. Defensively he stands out as a rim protector with his quickness off the ground blocking shots. Offensively he is best getting put backs and using his quickness. Not really a back to the basket scorer at this stage.
