SG Zach Rzewnicki (Ridgewood _ 2017)
It was a hot start for the junior two guard. He is a plus shooter that moves well without the ball and is most effective in the catch and shoot. He did just that early in the contest. The junior knocked in catch and shoot jumpers from beyond the arc along with a step back three in the first quarter. He then went on an extreme cold streak where he couldn’t buy a shot. Late in the game he came back with an offensive rebound put back and another three. He had 14 points and 8 rebounds.
,h2>G Matthew Krzystofcyk (Ridgewood _ 2017)
The 6’0” junior is a tough combo guard that can shoot it a little. Hit a couple threes including banking one in. He had 15 points.
SF Justin Wierzgac (St. Laurence _ 2017)
Wierzgac is a projectable 6’6” small forward that has great size and length. Will need to continue to add strength going forward. Hit a corner three and converted a nice back cut. Other than that was very tentative looking for his offense and finishing around the hoop. He had 5 points. Worth continuing to monitor going forward.
PG Chrstian Ferrer (St. Laurence _ 2017)
This 5’11” lead guard has a plus mid-range shot and likes to use the runner in the lane. Small college prospect had 8 points.
PG Chrstian Ferrer (St. Laurence _ 2017)
This 5’11” lead guard has a plus mid-range shot and likes to use the runner in the lane. Small college prospect had 8 points.
PG Laurence Merritt (St. Patrickês _ 2017)
The St. Patrick’s 5’9” lead guard is a slick handling lead guard that can leave his man on the ground if they don’t respect his crossover. Solid shooter on the pull up from mid-range with a quick release. Pushes the tempo and finds teammates when penetrating inside. He had 12 points.
PF Ayo Ajayi (St. Patrickês _ 2017)
Ajayi moved to Chicago from Canada and the 6’6” rangy four man has some potential. He has a long and lanky body that he will continue to add strength. Runs the floor very well finishing on passes in transition. High points rebounds and is active on the offensive glass. Flashes skill, but it is not all the way there yet as his hands need to continue to get better and ball skills develop. Solid free throw shooter. Defensively is a presence with his length as a shot blocker. Raw, but definitely has upside. Finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
SF Jeameril Wilson (Niles Notre Dame _ 2017)
The 6’6” small forward totally looks the part with strength and length to go with a college ready body. He got loose a couple times in transition where he showed off his athleticism. Overall though was very tentative offensively and had trouble finishing around the rim. Needs to play with a higher motor. Defensively has the tools, but didn’t want to lock in on that end. Did a solid job on the glass. He had 4 points and 7 boards. D1 talent, but needs to take the intensity up a few notches.
PG Matt Stritzel (Niles Notre Dame _ 2017)
One of the breakout stars of the event was this 6’4” junior point guard. Stritzel has a nice feel for the game making quality decisions with the basketball especially on the interior. He can catch fire from three with a plus shot from beyond the three point arc. Put himself on the radar with a 19 point performance.
PG Marco Lewis (Lincoln Park _ 2017)
Lewis is a 5’8” floor general that jukes and jives with the ball in his hands. He is quick off the bounce and pushes it in transition. Made a couple nice passes including a sweet alley-oop dish. Pressure defender that is pesky at the point of attack.
SF Hamza Gocobija (Lincoln Park _ 2017)
This 6’6” small forward put himself on the radar in a major way Sunday. The wing has great length and that plays well defensively. On the offensive end he is a plus shooter in the catch and shoot. He has a quick release and consistent accuracy. Went for 17 points. Name to watch moving forward!
