Tyler Watson
6’0 – PG – 2018
Watson was really good scoring the ball in this game. Not known for being a huge offensive threat, Watson showed some improvements there today. He shot the ball well from all over the floor. His mid-range jumper looks locked in right now. He’s a smart player that beats you with his mind rather than a ton of speed or size. He can get to the rim but can also pass out and make the nice dish to the wing. Keeps turnovers to a minimum and runs the offense really well. – 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists
Peyton Hendershot
6’4 – SF – 2017
Hendershot is a high-end football recruit that picked up an offer from Ball State. However, on the basketball court he can do quite a big. He’s tough and aggressive and plays all over the floor. Solid on the wing where he can shoot or drive. Next play down he can go on the block and post up. Athletically, he can do whatever he wants. Showed that today as Covington couldn’t put anyone in his way to slow him down. – 9 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists
Matthew Wilson
6’0 – SG – 2017
Wilson had one of his better games. The combo, utility-knife player does almost everything for his team. He’s a tough defender and he can really sky to get some big rebounds around the rim. He’s got a lot of raw skills but he doesn’t have a ton of size. Today, he was able to be a good impact guy on the offensive end. He showed off a nice pull-up jumper and even a three-pointer. – 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists
Covington:
Griffin Spring
6’4 – SF – 2017
Spring was Covington’s best player today but that wasn’t tough to do as they had a really tough time against Tri-West. Spring is one of the more versatile wings in the class and should provide some nice things from an offensive standpoint at the next level. He’s got a great shot from distance and can mix it up in the mid-range with his ability to dribble to a spot and pull-up. He shot well from the floor, 4/8, the best of the team today. – 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Ryan Fletcher
6’6 – PF – 2016
Fletcher was really good the first time I saw him this year. Today, he wasn’t nearly offensive minded enough to help Covington stay in this game. He went 1/5 from the field and only had 2 three-pointers shot on the day. That was what really helped him in the first game I saw against Indianapolis Manual. He did, however, showcase his rebounding a bit. He’s got good size at 6’6 and he’s decently long and used that to help draw in some tough boards against Tri-West’s scrappy players. – 5 points, 8 rebounds
