Sam Royal
6’1 – PG – 2016
Royal was the lead guard in this game and at the same time, the catalyst for the offense. He was a solid shooting the ball hitting a three early followed but a bunch of floaters and mid-range jumpers. Great size at the point and handles are quality enough to break most presses. He was good tracking down rebounds and getting out on breaks which were quite often with BNL’s misses. Showed quality passing skills today, as did most of the team. – 18 points
Campbell Donovan
6’0 – SG – 2017
Donovan had a really nice game against BNL. He didn’t do a ton of different things but what he did do, which was shoot the ball, he did it really well. Confident kid but was really great about finding his spots today. He started off going 5/5 from behind the arc before missing. A little short for his natural position but still could grow either in size or skill. Played hard and seemed to make good passes. Was great running in the Bishop Dwenger system and keeping control of his game. – 15 points
David O’Daniel
6’8 – C – 2016
Daniel didn’t get a ton of playing time due to foul trouble but he was good when on the floor and maybe even better was his size. He’s always been a guy that seemed shorter than he should be but he looks fully grown now and sits at 6’8. Strong kid with tons of body to throw around in the paint. Moves pretty well for his size. Has to narrow his game up a little bit. Not a guy that should take more than one dribble in the post, if that, and has to get deeper. Got caught playing more of a high post and that hurt him. If and when he gets deeper he showed much more skill. – 2 points
Bedford North Lawrence:
McCall Ray
5’11 – PG – 2019
McCall, a alum of the PHI Freshman Showcase, was really impressive as he made some big time plays for Bedford North Lawrence. He’s a confident kid and that showed in this one. Played off the ball most of the time but was probably the best passer on the floor. Had one bad pass but was good getting the ball to his teammates in positions to score. Hit a great and-one in the first half off a mid-range pullup, double clutch. His effort is always great and today was no exception. – 6 points
Braxton Day
6’2 – SG – 2016
Day, who is known as more of a shooter, was nearly the exact opposite today. He was all drive today going at the rim over and over again. He struggled to finish well but did enough to keep BNL in the game. He missed some tough layups in traffic, especially early. However, he had the biggest play of the game on a drive and the and-one with 9.4 seconds to go to take a lead. – 26 points
