Continue ReadingPeoria Manual 2017 small forward Romon Douglas-Watkins is starting to develop his all-around game. The 6’6” wing is known for being a slasher that can score in bunches. He is very aggressive taking it to the cup and scoring in the paint. When we have evaluated him early in the season he has shown more however. He hit a couple of jump shots from mid-range. Mechanically has a bit of hitch in it that will need to be refined moving forward. He hit the glass on both ends of the floor high pointing rebounds. Passed the ball the best I have ever seen him making great feeds to teammates. Defensively he was a monster with his length and athleticism both blocking shots and causing turnovers.
He spoke about Peoria Manual’s start to the season and getting their new D1 junior involved.
“It is going good. Our team is coming together and getting chemistry. Getting AJ (Youngman) open mainly hitting shots which opens up the floor.”
What areas of his game is he focusing on?
“I am working on defense defending guards and attacking the rim. My shot is developing. I have been working on that.”
He talked about the latest with his recruitment.
“A couple weeks ago I got offered by Bethune Cookman. I have been hearing from Western Illinois a lot.”
What stands out when it comes to Bethune Cookman?
“I heard from the coach. I like their program and how they get out and play.”
Mid-majors need to take a serious look here as his game continues to develop as he has significant upside!
