Continue ReadingMarian Catholic 2016 center Myles Howard is a 6’7” center with great length. That plays well on the defensive end of the floor. He is effective as a shot blocker coming from the weakside and also alters interior post players from taking shots with the fear of him swatting it in their face. Offensively he runs the floor well and keeps the ball high, but hasn’t proven to be a low post scorer to this point in this senior campaign. D2 programs would wise to check him out with his defensive ability and potential.
He knows where the strength is in his game.
“Defense first. Communication and rebounding. That is what I do. I block shots and change shots. I rebound and look to push the ball up the court. My points will come off fast breaks and up tempo offense. My main focus is defense and whatever I can do on the defensive end is the best thing for me.”
On the grassroots circuit he played with the Illinois Ballerz.
“It went really well. I enjoyed playing with my team. We played some good competition. Some of the top players in the country. I got a lot better on my defense and strength wise. I put on 20 pounds.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have couple D1 schools Cornell is scouting me and Cal State Northridge is scouting me. I have a couple D2 offers from Lewis and Spring Hill College.”
He talked about the difference between the D1 and D2 schools recruiting him.
“I like that I will get immediate playing time at the D2 schools. With the D1 schools it is the dream for everyone to play division one basketball.”
