Michael Alfred is a six foot point guard from St. Michael’s who must step into the light as their leader with 2015 star Jacob Evans in college at Cincinnati now. He is a steady presence on both ends of the floor and should guide St. Michael’s back into a playoff run.
“I consider the strongest points of my game to be shooting [and] the ability to create easy shots for others.” He continued to reiterate how well he understands he’ll have to be more a scorer with this years team.
“I am working on creating shots for myself and being a high volume scorer but also efficient.” It’s tough to change a mindset from only taking those great looks to needing to be the guy but he’s adapting well.
His goals are lofty but there is no reason he can’t obtain them. “My team goal is to make the playoffs and go far. My individual goal is to make district MVP and to get all state honors.”
He, again, told us how he’ll need to be a scorer in his role and that coaches should take a look at his all around game. He can score from every level while running the point guard position. His best attribute is likely his ability to defend though as a thick but still very quick guard.
Alfred has a 3.3 GPA with a 25 on the ACT and has begun receiving interest from colleges. He could really help a program that is the right fit from the D3-NAIA range.
