Still offer-less, Good Counsel point guard Cameron Norman continues to see Division I interest come his way – some of it “heavy” – and he’s hoping to get that first offer before his junior season is finished.
“West Virginia has been sending me heavy mail, and Princeton is, Harvard is still picking up on me, and Maryland is still recruiting me,” said the 6-foot- point guard. “And then Richmond is still keeping up with me, and Central Florida, and George Washington have started to recruit me too.”
“I would have to say West Virginia, and Harvard are the two that are showing me a lot of interest,” said Norman, who mentioned he’s always been intrigued by the Ivy League.
“I’ve always been interested in the Ivy League, and I’ve always had good grades.”
Still just a junior, Norman has plenty of time for those offers to roll in, but he hopes it happens sooner rather than later.
“Really I’m just focused on getting better,” he said. And I’m getting a lot of interest right now and hopefully after this season it will start turning into offers. And then I’ll pick up a lot more over the summer.”
This past summer Norman was playing with Team Melo, and he says improving his leadership was one key development. .
“I would definitely say my leadership is where I’ve seen the most improvement, just developing as a point guard and getting my team where they need to be. And encouraging them when they make mistakes and things like that,” said Norman.
“Also my mid-range game and floaters, pulling up on a dime in the mid-range. And also hitting the open guys when I drive and kick is something I’ve improved on.”
He’ll be looked upon to score more this season as a junior at Good Counsel
“This year they are looking at me strictly as a leader, and a scorer,” said Norman. “I’ll still bring the ball up, but there are a lot more plays being ran for me as well. We just want to make it deep into the playoffs this year, and just do well.”

As PHM’s 11th-ranked 2017, it should come as no surprise that Good Counsel’s talented point guard Cameron Norman has seen some significant Division I recruitment over the past year.
His list of interested schools is one of variety, and the 6-foot prospect is seeing interest come in from far, and wide.
Norman listed West Virginia, Richmond, Cal State, Utah State, Colgate, Princeton, Pittsburgh, American, Florida International and Maryland as schools recruiting him, and says the list is growing seemingly everyday.
“There’s schools that are showing interest, there’s some schools that have said they’d give me an offer soon, but I don’t have any offers yet,” he said.
“Richmond has said that they may be close to offering, and also West Virginia,” said Norman. “And right now that’s the only two I feel like may be really close to offering.”
As starting point guard with the Falcons, Norman averaged 10.6 points per game during his sophomore season.
“I’m a pass-first point guard that can also shoot the ball from long-range, but I can also take it to the paint and open up things for my teammates, and I can also finish and score,” he said.
Formerly with Team Takeover, he’s now with Team Melo, and says it was the support that Carmelo Anthony shows the program that drew him in.
“It’s been going pretty well, Carmelo Anthony came down and held a special event and really wanted to be a big part of his organization, so I decided to play with Team Melo because of that,” said Norman, who says he’s seen definite improvements in his game since joining the renowned Maryland program.
“Really I think I’m improving on using ball-screens and getting into the lane more. I’ve been working all last summer and this summer on working at that and really using the pick-and-roll,” said Norman. “And also defense, on-the-ball pressure and full-court — so both of those things I really think I improved on.”
