Numbers Notebook Dec. 9: MSJ tops John Carroll
Numbers Notebook: Dec. 9
Here’s a look at some good performances in the area:
–On Monday, Mount St. Joseph guard Randy Miller scored four key points in the final 90 seconds to help the Gaels to a 51-48 victory over John Carroll in an early season MIAA A Conference and Baltimore Catholic League game.
Miller made two free throws and a 10-foot jumper from near the top of the key as the visiting Gaels rallied after falling behind 46-43 with just over two minutes left.
He led the Gaels with 13 points, the only player to make it into double figures in that game. The guard is being looked at by a few colleges but said that prep school also could be an option.
–Glenelg Country School got a free throw from Anthony Longpre to pull out a 58-57 victory over Meade a few days ago.
Longpre made one of two free throws with just 5.6 seconds remaining to give the Dragons a victory in the MIAA A/Anne Arundel challenge.
He finished the night with 16 points as GCS scored a big victory over the defending state champions.
GCS improved to 4-1 with the victory
–The Washington Post reported that National Christian’s Mohammed Kabir is officially headed to The Citadel to play basketball next year. The deal is done.
Right now, though, Kabir is helping National Christian this season. The Post said he scored 24 points with 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 70-64 victory over Bowie a few days ago.
