After pulling out a tough three-point road victory versus John Carroll on Dec. 7, the Gaels headed to Hawaii and did not play for 10 days. They went to a tournament there — the Iolani Classic — and won three of four games and claimed fifth place overall.
St. Joe won its first game easily, on Dec. 17, with a 72-42 victory over Leilehua. The Gaels then came back two days later where Lone Peak (Utah) handed them a tough 47-46 loss.
Two days after that, Mount Saint Joseph bounced back for a 79-38 rout of Martinsburg (W. Va). The Gaels then landed in the fifth-place game where they beat The Master’s Academy (Fla.), 76-69.
So overall, they went 3-1 on the trip. The Gaels now are 10-2 overall this season and get back to work in the Baltimore area this week with a conference road game at Gilman on Tuesday before a non-conference road match-up at Dulaney next Saturday.
