The tournament champions ended up being the host: Horizon Huskies. The 2nd time in school history the Huskies won their own tournament. The first time coming in 2007 under head coach Paul Long who’s team was led by one of the best rosters in school history. In 2015 the Huskies faced a very tough and talented New Trier (IL) team. The game came down to the final seconds but the Huskies were able to sneak away with a victory in front of their home community.
The MVP of the event was guard Caleb Cota from North Canyon High School. Cota averaged 38 ppg over a span of 3 games and led North Canyon to a 3rd place finish. This weekend clearly showed that Cota is transforming into a college prospect more than ever as well as North Canyon is serious contender for a D3 title in Arizona. Despite not winning the whole tournament, almost everyone who witnessed the display Cota put on realized that he deserved to be MVP.
