Lake Clifton, ranked No. 4 by The Baltimore Sun, was pushed by Edgewood but made it through all right. The Sun reported that the Baltimore City school hung on and bounced back from a 19-point halftime hold to pull out a 67-63 victory at the Dundalk Holiday Basketball Tournament.
Rasheed Brown scored a game-high 32 points and helped the Lakers in a big second-half rally that let them come up with the victory.
Shawntaze Drake (13 points) and Ronald Lucas (11) also pitched in as the Lakers improved to 6-1 on the season. They advanced to the next round of the tournament on Tuesday.
Edgewood was paced by David Velasquez with 18 points.
Oakland Mills, ranked No. 8 by The Sun, also did not have an easy time but got through. The Sun said that the Scorpions were tied with Winters Mill at the break but got through in the second half for a 69-60 victory in their tournament Monday.
Naquan Williams-Day led the winners with 30 points. Daniel Kiely scored 14 while Tre’Von Hopkins got 11 more as the Scorpions topped the Carroll County school.
