- Apple Valley. They are defending state champs and have all their starters back. Easiest no-brainer number one I've had in a while.
- Hopkins. Bring Amir Coffey back, have four starters returning, a ton of young talent for depth, likely deepest Class AAAA team in state.
- Wayzata. All of their players are back from a good team that good better every game last year and they continued to improve playing together all spring and summer. Not to mention they have got the better of Maple Grove in last couple match-ups.
- Maple Grove. Bring everybody back for the most part, add a transfer in Taron Pickford, added depth, this is the year they likely have their best shot as Reed Nikko is in the middle for the final time.
- Tartan. Tartan is still quite young with mostly juniors and sophomores but this is a deep and talented team. I honestly don't believe people know how good they could be this year. Lots of tough kids.
- Champlin Park. Bring back two starters in Theo and McKinley who lead a very talented junior class plus there are numerous young talents in this school that will soon make an impact. The Rebels won't skip a beat in terms of being one of the better programs.
- Eden Prairie. Outstanding group of guards and a very good coach in David Flom, the Eagles have a senior core with some good young talent around them. Guards/wings in Jacobus, Rudrud, Geolat, Kluge, and Chose that are very talented.
- Lakeville North. Brooks and Reuvers are the headliners but there is also a group of really tough kids that will battle. This senior class is tough as nails and there are a couple solid juniors as well.
- Rochester JM. We think this is as low as they will be all year. The Hurts, Chan, and some improved role players around them, the Rockets have the talent to challenge for gold. They just have to get past that Panther obstacle.
- Shakopee. The Sabers are third place finishers the last two years bringing back their main guy against Steffon Mitchell. There are a couple others back with him but they aren't quite as deep, but still very good.
- Who else? I have Minnetonka right behind them at 11 with Cretin-Derham Hall, Armstrong, Edina, and Chaska all fighting for a spot. Centennial was there but they have had some injuries that are hurting things.
