Two local players will be heading to Mount St. Mary's to begin their college careers next year.
Ryan Gomes, who plays at the Friends School and Miles Wilson (Mount St. Joseph) are joining coach Jamion Christian's program, the school announced recently.
Gomes will give the team some help with size and muscle. The Mount said he's a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center who averaged 10 rebounds and eight blocks last year.
“Ryan is a local product from right down the road in Westminster who we've had our eye on from day one,” said Christian in a press release.”He comes to us from the Friends School where he plays for head coach Al Holley. He brings a physical presence and a high motor along with his ability to run the floor. “
Wilson is 6-foot-5 and plays out on the wing. He averaged 10 points and three rebounds last year as a junior at Mount St. Joseph. He gave the Gaels a big lift on offense in several games last year and should do more of the same this season.
“Miles is special,” said Christian in a press release. “His size and explosive scoring ability fits right in with Mount Mayhem and everything that comes with it. Playing in the tough Baltimore Catholic League and for a tremendous head coach like Pat Clatchey will prepare Miles for his arrival on the Mount campus.”
