Lake Central Pulls Out Win Over Andrean
As we previewed in our Games of the Week article, Lake Central always seems to have talent and they showed that again on Monday. Lake Central won 60-51 over Andrean. Per Andrew Stern's article for NWI Preps, Skyler Smith started out the game 1 of 8 from behind the arc. The senior guard hit three more triples to end the game and had a game-high 17 points. A new name to maybe keep an eye on is Norell Smith, a 6'3 sophomore forward who had 13 points and 12 rebounds in the win for Lake Central. Senior guard Colin Flowers led Andrean with 13 points.
No Zion Young For Andrean, Not Yet
Former Merrillville guard Zion Young told me this past weekend that he did not get approved for full eligibility at Andrean. He was granted partial and will be able to play Junior Varsity this season until after Sectionals. The rule with eligibility is that he can play the 365 days following his former teams final game last season. Merrillville's last game was on March 6th.
Lathan Falls Out For Season At Wood Memorial
Wood Memorial took a big hit last night as they got word that sophomore Lathan Falls will miss the entire season with a torn ACL. Lathan averaged 11.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as a freshman last season at Wood Memorial. He was their top returning scorer.
Central Christian Gets First Win in Over A Year
Central Christian is a newer program to the state but they have found success pretty recently. They won a Sectional Championship in the 2012-13 season. However, last year they struggled badly losing every game. Head coach Bobby Brown has had an entire offseason to prepare and last night Central Christian got their first win of the season. It also happened to be their first win in 25 games and last since February 28th, 2014. New season, new results.
