Heat Northwest burst onto the scene this spring with perhaps more sleepers than any other grassroots roster. Lucas Walford, Isaih Wade, Austin Greenwaldt all boosted their stock in a big way, and Will Alexander of Rogers was another guy in that category. He went from relative unknown to a top-100 recruit with some nice outside shooting, a willingness to defend and athletic potential.
He now heads into a varsity season where he’s one of several college-level wings for Rogers.
“We should be pretty good this year,” Will told NHR. “We lack an experienced big man, but I think we more than make up for it in quickness and scoring ability. We are gonna have a solid team, I think.”
Will’s personally working on strength and quickness as well as explosiveness, and he specifically mentioned Steffan Musoke (12.6 PPG last year) and Allen Wilson (11.9 PPG) as fellow seniors who will be key. Will averaged 8.1 PPG last year himself, and he described the trio as a “deadly combination.”
Along with anticipating a new season, Will has found some time to visit a few campuses, one of which brought him a scholarship.
“I've toured St. John's, Viterbo, St. Scholastica and Macalester. I was offered a partial by Viterbo. Macalester and and St. John's stand out for their academics… I don’t have any other visits planned right now. The final factors will be cost and academic strength.”
