Size for Position
This crop of wings is unique for two reasons, the first being the size for position. Seven of the top 15 wings stand 6'4″ or taller which, for high school juniors, is not seen a great deal in one state.
Versatility
The second unique factor about this group is the versatile skill set a good deal of these prospects have. Multiple guys have the ability to play numerous positions on the floor whether it's the 1 through 3 or 2 through 4.
Surefire D1
There are three ones who project to be surefire Division-I prospects in 6'4″ Chanell Banks, 6'5″ Saikou Gueye, and 6'5″ Caleb Simmons. Simmons, the most polished and highest ranked of the group, already sports numerous D1 offers due to his ability to defend, make shots, and make plays off the dribble. Banks also sports offers while Gueye, a potential filled small forward, should see his performances this season and this upcoming travel season help him garner offers.
D2 Standouts
While some of these prospects have a chance to earn D1 scholarships there is no doubt that they would be immediate standouts at the NCAA D2/NAIA D1 levels. 6'2″ Keith Holmes, 6'0″ Colten Kresl, and 6'4″ Noah Baumann are all in different stages of their career. Holmes is a 6'2″ athletic wing whose skills are beginning to catch up with his motor. Kresl, a 6'0″ sharpshooter, has been long considered one of the most talented guards in Arizona. He is very polished and, what he lacks and athleticism, he recovers in shooting ability and IQ. Baumann, a 6'4″ combo guard, is a highly skilled performer who is beginning to gain confidence and understand how to lead and run a team.
D3?
The lines are very blurred when it comes to small college prospects within the 2017 class. There are numerous prospects right on the borderline on the NCAA D2/NAIA D1 level and the NCAA D3/NAIA D2 level. It all depends on how they develop within the next season or so. Matt Burton, Bryce Fowler, Darion Spottsville, and JT Thoman stand at the top of the list.
