Dual-sport star Desmond Bessent excels on both the gridiron as an offensive tackle, and and the hardwood as a center for the Buccaneers.
And thought the talented junior is certainly a capable basketball player, his interest is coming in for his football prowess at the moment.
“Currently there are several schools showing interest, but football programs. To my knowledge I have not been contacted for basketball yet,” said Bessent, who defined his hoops happenings to PHF.
“I played in a couple tournaments this offseason, however I spent the majority of the season and summer training with my school's football team,” said the 6-foot-8 center “My strengths are rebounds and defending in the post and perimeter. I need to improve my scoring, I would like to work on my free-throws and start taking more shots. I am working everyday to improve my game and hope to have a great season ahead.”
As he heads into his junior season with First Coast, Bessent will focus on playing within his role on the team, and a state championship is the goal.
“With First Coast this season I’ll be asked to rebound, score, hustle on defense and offense, and just play my role,” said Bessent, PHF’s 92nd-ranked 2017. “My goal is to stay healthy, work hard, and contribute anyway I can in helping my team win a state championship”
