Preseason All-Region Teams: VHSL 5A South

<p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Perhaps the deepest and most talented region in the VHSL this year, the 5A South Region is up for grabs with a multitude of teams that feature division one talent and have winning traditions recently. While it will be tough to dethrone reigning state champs Henrico, who both lose and return some key additions from last season, the likes of LC Bird, Green Run, Kecoughtan, Deep Run, Salem, Norview, Bethel and Varina are all deep and talented teams that could compete with anyone on any given day. It was tough to do, but here’s who we chose for the Preseason 5A South Team.</span></p><h2>MVP: De'Monte Buckingham; Senior G/F; Henrico</h2><p><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">The University of Richmond commit has solidified himself as not just one of the most productive, but one of the winningest players in Henrico history. Buckingham, who averaged 21 points and 9 rebounds per game last season, will look to go out on top and solidify his legacy with another trip to the state tournament, which would be his third in as many seasons.
