With a D2 offer on the table, it sounds like D1 MN/St. Croix Lutheran senior Trenton Krueger may be nearing a decision.
“I took an unofficial visit to Duluth last weekend, and I really liked it! They are in the process of getting a new gym, which looks amazing. It would be cool to play on it if they get it. I’m going back up on October 24 for a football game, and I think I might get to do some stuff with the guys up there to see what it’s really like. Plus they offered Carter Brooks (Select/Lakeville North), and we’ve talked about it.”
Other schools continue to jump in, however.
“I also have gotten a call from Midwestern State down in Wichita, Texas, and they are a high-level D2 that is always in the tourney. The assistant said they are very interested in me, so we will see what they do.
“Right now, Duluth is my main option. I don’t know how much longer I can wait to make a decision, because if no one else is going to offer, I need to jump before other players start committing! I would like to commit around November, but I’m not positive. I still need time to think and see if I get anything else soon.”
Trenton has also been playing keeper for the St. Croix Lutheran soccer team this fall.

Trenton Krueger knows he has an excellent opportunity in front of him. His play in Vegas will be in front of many coaches’ eyes, and it could open new doors.
“I've gotten a lot more D2 interest since I went to the Central Michigan Elite Camp,” Krueger said. “I'm hoping to gain more after the D1 Classic along with Vegas this week!
He holds a D2 offer from UM-Duluth (the staff also offered his St. Croix Lutheran/D1 MN teammate Ade Lamu), and receiving that first scholarship was a relief for Krueger. He wants to get a UMD visit in August before soccer begins.
“They came to St. Croix to watch a workout and offered me that day! It's really exciting to get that feeling. They talk to me every week or two.”
Other schools in contact with Trenton include Sioux Falls, Ferris State, U of Charleston, Belmont and South Dakota State. Krueger’s parents visited Belmont on a trip to Atlanta, and they came back with high praise.
Krueger’s been working on his outside game, realizing that he will need to transition to SF. He has refined his motion and is also working on cutting to the hoop from the perimeter. “I've shown that I can be a 3 man who still is able to go against some of the big 4s,” he said.

Update from 3/5/15 by Alex Conover
A 58-51 win over New Life Academy means that Trenton Krueger, Ade Lamu, Aage Rovney and the rest of St. Croix Lutheran will play Minneapolis Roosevelt on Friday in their section title game. Trust me, Northstar Hoops will be there for that one.
The thing about St. Croix Lutheran (Minneapolis North and SPA are this way too) is that its core is made up of juniors. Friday’s game could go one of two ways for these 2016s: lose, and you’ve still got next year. Win, and look out for the new kids on the block.
The 2016s showed off on Tuesday, with Krueger and Lamu each enjoying three dunks before sealing their trip to the section title game. As fun as that was, they’re focused on advancing.
“One game at a time,” Krueger said. “We didn't go this far to lose in sections! We need to execute our offense; our defense is very strong.”
The 6-foot-6 forward reports preliminary college interest from UW-Stevens Point, UW-Eau Claire, MSU-Moorhead and a D3 in Colorado. According to his Twitter, he will play AAU basketball with D1 Minnesota.
