Continue ReadingCameron Satterwhite has shocked had awed Arizona fans in his three year career. Unfortunately, that high school career is over due to an unfortunate injury that saw one of the state’s best prospects go down.
Satterwhite is best known for his great athleticism. Almost every game he has a dunk that most kids would put on their one time highlight reels. In addition to his freakish jumping abilities, his ability to shoot the ball from an array of spots had improved drastically.
Despite having to miss his senior year, Satterwhite’s name has still been buzzing due to his decommitment from Colorado.
When asked about his rationale for decommiting from Colorado, he stated, “I didn’t want to reclassify or got a prep school.”
Satterwhite, even though he will not be cleared until April, is confident that he will be ready to go by next season so he did not have any interest in sticking around in the high school ranks for another year. “I am not going to gray shirt, but I would be open to redshirting, but in my opinion, I am going to be ready to play.”
Although this has undoubtedly been a tough process for Satterwhite, he was quite up-beat as he believes that “everything happens for a reason.” His main focus is not on the injury but on getting back from the injury and becoming the best player he is capable of.
When asked what he has learned from this injury and this latest recruiting decision, he stated, “I have a chip on my shoulder. I want to prove people wrong. I am coachable, I am a good teammate, and I will be ready to play.”
Despite the injury possibly detracting some interest, Satterwhtie still holds offers from “San Francisco, UTEP, and Cal Poly.”
In addition to those offers, he has been talking to coaches from the following programs: “Pitt, New Mexico, San Diego, Loyola (Illinois), Hawaii, Nevada, Utah State, and Creighton.”
As far as what he wants in a school, he remarked, “Something similar to what I have at Glendale Christian. A school that has a family atmosphere, a place where I can work and develop skills, and have good relationships with the players and the coaches.”
Satterwhite will be interesting to follow. He is one of the top athletes in this class as far as athleticism and skill is concerned. If he is able to make a full recovery prior to next season, a school might be getting a steal in this kid.
