The big man is coming of a great summer with Young Legends on the Under Armour circuit. We caught up with him to see how he felt the summer went.
“It was my second year playing high level AAU. Traveling around the country was a great experience. Playing against the best players in the country every game lets you know the type of intensity you have to play with at all times. The margin for mistakes is so low. We finished 6th or 7th in the regular season. It also helped me because I got a lot more attention because we are in the UAA. I led the entire 16U in rebounds and was 14th in scoring I believe.”
Krutwig spoke about the strengths in his game.
“Back to the basket post moves. Really comfortable down there. Basketball IQ is a big thing for me. I know the game in and out. My best ability is probably my passing. I led my high school team in assists. Team player. Do what it takes to make the team win. Rebounding as I led the UA spring circuit in rebounds for 16U.”
The top 15 prospect in the class updated us on his recruitment.
“It’s been going really good. As of now I have seven offers. I’ve been talking to mostly mid-major schools along with a couple high-major schools.”
The junior post rattled off his current offer list.
“UIC, Loyola, UAB, Toledo, Brown, Colombia, and Vermont.”
There are quite a few other schools that have shown interest.
“Cornell, UW Green Bay, Northern Iowa, Northern Illinois, Dayton, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, Ball State, Clemson, and Nebraska.”
The only school that Krutwig has taken an unofficial to was a recent trip to Loyola.
“They have really nice facilities! Their coaching staff was great and I like them a lot! They are a program on the rise and they play in a really competitive conference. Biggest thing I liked was that there is no football so the training staff is all about basketball and focused on making them better athletes.”
What will he ultimately be looking for in a school?
“Competitive conference, chance to play as a freshman, good academics, good business program, and a coaching staff that makes an impression on me.”
