We are looking at the player that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
When looking at the Illinois Irish program their 16U group really stood out. They played as a team and won a ton of games. The best prospect in the program played up for them and gave them the extra boost offensively to make them great. Our Illinois Irish program MVP is Champaign Central 2018 shooting guard Tim Finke. The 6’5” wing is the state’s top rising sophomore prospect because of his athleticism, high IQ, perimeter shooting, and ability to shine within the team concept. He did just that all spring and summer. Finke was looked at to be the go to scorer when games were on the line and he stepped up.
There really wasn’t one standout game in particular, but just his overall body of work was very impressive throughout the spring and summer. The first two trips down the floor back in April at NY2LA Swish and Dish he drilled threes. His ability to get to the rim with ease and explosion was evident when we saw them close out the summer at the Jayhawk Invitational.
Without a doubt Finke is a high major prospect and proved that this summer.
