ACGC. Went to state in Class A, have some nice players back, how will AA be for them?
Benson. Won five games last year, not high expectations.
Jackson CC. Massive expectations this year from inside and out of the program.
Lakeview. Seth Goepferich is a post with some potential.
Luverne. Big Q leads this group to the season they have been primed for.
Martin County West. Struggled with section teams but where a .500 team.
Minnewaska Area. Quality new program to the section should make noise.
Montevideo. Diggins will have this team back competing after a down year.
New London-Spicer. Three games under .500 last year but will they improve this winter?
Pipestone Area. Don’t count out Pipestone after a 16 win year.
Redwood Valley. Guards win games and they always have it, this year too.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton. Spencer Smith scoring, healthy Josh Kirk, like it.
Windom Area. Hovering around that .500 mark last year, same this year maybe.
Yellow Medicine East. Won eight games last year, improvement.
Minneota. Fell below .500 and now they are moving up a section.
Morris Area. Winners of 16 games a year ago and now they shift sections.
Thoughts
- So many contenders and so many new teams. ACGC, Minnewaska, New London-Spicer, Minneota, and Morris Area will all come and make things interesting right away.
- Good size down here with Seth from Lakeview, Big Q at Luverne, Bodey at JCC, Derek at New London-Spicer, etc. If the teams have guards they will be at a big advantage.
- Let's not forget about the groups with big guard depth, they will pry be the top contenders. Who? JCC has guards, TMB and Redwood Valley have really nice guards, and there are several others. Like that Johnson/Pendleton vs Smith/Kirk battle.
- Last year JCC beat Luverne but it was Quinton with better numbers than Bodey although JCC didn't need big scoring numbers from their big. Watched them play against one another inside in Omaha, thought Quinton won that match-up. Their senior games will be fun.
- Who wins? Who knows. I think JCC has a great chance but a healthy TMB has a great chance too. ACGC is a good program but they are coming up so it's a question mark. Lots of potential winners. Maybe Montevideo comes around.
