He's the lone remaining player with size but three of the transfers we discussed yesterday have found their way into District 8-5A. Thompson is a forward with the ability to play inside and out but will surely be forced to defend the paint area against these bigs.
One of the top 2016 prospects in the state Cameron Lard has found his way to Landry-Walker in the same way Blake Paul did in 2015. He'll provide a massive presence inside as a 6'9 rim protector for the talented backcourt (led by Lamar Peters) that LW possesses. Their jump from 4A to 5A after two straight state titles means they'll need contributions from players with the size more than ever.
Another 2016 prospect in 6'9 Khalea Turner has returned to Louisiana from Findlay Prep to play at Helen Cox who is playing up in 5A this season and will join this extremely tough district. With 6'5 forward Roydell Brown already in the fold, they'll be able to match-up size wise with anyone. Turner provides a high IQ big with the ability to play anywhere from the elbow in at a high level.
Lastly but certainly not least is 6'11 PF/C Mitchell Robinson who is one of the top 2017 prospects in the nation. He can play inside and out and has the skill level to make a difference anywhere he plays. Heading to a school in Chalmette that is coming off a very rough season and is losing one of their top returning players to a transfer means he'll need to shine every night for them to suceed.
