He’s a very confident basketball player that can shoot it and create off the bounce. He’s a very good ball-handler and is confident under pressure bringing the ball up the floor. He needs to balance scoring and passing a little more, but he’s got big time talent and a bright future.
Michael Moreno (Scott County): Moreno was far and away the best and most dominant player at camp, he was un-guardable in the post and showed great skill bringing the ball up the court and distributing the ball. He’s got a great build to develop into a 6’6” wing with some very solid perimeter skills already. He needs to show he can shoot the ball, but his future is very bright.
Dontaie Allen (Pendleton County): The 6’5” guard probably has the highest upside of anyone in the 2019 class. He’s long, athletic and constantly penetrated into the paint at camp. He needs to get stronger as he struggles finishing against contact right now, he is a streaky shooter right now, but that’ll improve as he works at it. He broke his wrist early in games Saturday, so we hope his recovery goes well.
Korbin Spencer (Elliott County): Korbin showed himself to be one of the best scorers in the 2019 class at camp. He can shoot the ball, create off the bounce and has a very good feel for the game. He’s also surprisingly athletic and could develop into a big time shooting guard prospect as he gets more exposure.
Carson Guthrie (Mayfield): The 6’4” shooting guard was impressive all-around, he’s a solid shooter, ball-handler and even posted up smaller defenders. He’s long and a solid athlete who should develop into a division I prospect with his size, length, athleticism and skill set.
Adam Sizemore (North Laurel): The 5’8” point guard was easily the best passer and best true point guard at camp. He penetrated with ease and found ways to score or set up teammates. He was very good in transition and made several nice no look passes throughout the games. His size will hurt him in terms of college looks, but he can flat out play and lead a team.
Kyle Stivers (Franklin County): Kyle was a smooth and efficient scorer that found ways to create for himself off the bounce and get open perimeter shots. He showed that he could score in bunches and his length, size and athleticism will translate to the next level. He’s going to be a division I prospect if he continues to develop his game and get stronger.
Spencer Free (Harrison County): Athletic 6’3” shooting guard he stood out in drills because of his willingness to finish above the rim. He’s got good athleticism, size and length and will be a player to watch in the coming years.
Cam Fluker (Scott County): The 5’7” scoring guard showcased his shiftiness and shooting ability all day at camp. He can create for himself and others off the bounce and is a solid shooter as well. His size is going to hurt him if he doesn’t grow, but he can score in a variety of ways and will be a good high school player at worst.
Amari Taylor (Tates Creek Middle/2020): Amari has a smooth all-around game; he can handle the ball and has a nice jumper as well. He’s only about 5’10” right now, but if he grows a little and works on becoming more of a point he has a bright future.
TreVon Smith (Taylor County): The 6’1” point guard will have two great mentors at Taylor County in Quentin Goodin and David Sloan. He has good size, athleticism and length and some solid ball-handling skills. He’s not the most developed scorer just yet, but he can play and has great upside.
D.J. Mitchell (Henderson County): The 6’4” wing from Henderson Count was impressive on looks alone. But he showcased a solid handle as well and showed himself to be a solid rebounder. He needs to continue to work on his skill level, but his length and athleticism with his build give him a high ceiling.
De’Jhon Irvin (Taylor County): De’Jhon doesn’t look it, but he was one of the most athletic kids at the camp. He’s extremely quick and plays above the rim, which are the type of physical tools you need to play at a high level and be 5’8”. He needs to work on becoming a better shooter and would be best suited to play the one as he continues to progress.
Stephen Cordle (Augusta): The 6’6” power forward showed great hands and a nice feel around the rim and in the paint. He had solid footwork and moved ok for his size. He’s going to need to get stronger and continue to work on his quickness and athleticism, but he has a solid future.
Keaston Brown (Henry Clay): Keaston was solid all day long at camp, he picked his spots offensively and knew when to shoot it and when to create off the bounce. He’s got a little shiftiness to his game and seems to be in the combo guard mold.
Jalen Burbage (Bryan Station): Jalen has a great build and was just tough all day long. He’s got some good athleticism and length and showed the ability to get into the lane and score at the rim. He’s going to need to become a better shooter, but I like his game and he has a ton of room to improve.
Mason Shifflett (Bullitt Central): The 6’2” shooting guard caught my eye with his shooting ability and his defense. He has a nice sequence where he got a steal and layup then nailed a three a moment later. He’s got good size, a good build and can shoot the ball.
