A lead guard who plays with a ton of pace; can knock down the 3-ball with range/efficiency; attacks off the bounce and plays bigger than his listed height, making things happen in traffic; a defensive menace who is starting to figure things out as a leader, leads with his play on the hardwood; a prospect for DII programs in the region to get on their radar out of White Oak High

Hobbs is a truly gifted shot maker in North Carolina’s 2027 class and he’ll be running with the Eastern Carolina Phenomz this spring/summer. The combination of his tight handle and deep range make him one of the better isolation scorers in his class here in The HoopState. Hobbs possesses the ability to exploit weaker defenders off the bounce and make it look easy doing so. This past season at White Oak High School, Hobbs averaged 23.3 Points, 4.0 Rebounds, 2.7 Assists, and 1.3 Steals per game while operating with 43/35/78 shooting splits. If we can see Hobbs maintain/elevate the efficiency while still producing at a higher level as he faces tougher competition consistently this spring/summer, I fully expect him to get more next level attention sooner rather than later.

has proven himself as one of the top scoring guards in North Carolina regardless of class. The kid simply fills it up and White Oak is enjoying a really successful season with a 14-5 record and 4-2 mark in conference play. Hobbs is averaging 24.3 Points, 4.3 Rebounds, 2.8 Assists, and 1.1 Steals per game. He’s doing all of that on 45/38/81 which is incredible efficiency for the volume that Hobbs scores it. He’s got deep off the bounce range, a tight handle, and great footwork when self-creating. Hobbs ability to make off the dribble three’s with consistency makes the floor completely open for his ability to touch the paint and make plays for himself or others. Hobbs should start to garner more recruiting attention after a playoff run at White Oak combined with a strong travel ball season. He’s got a ton of ability and it’s only a matter of time before he starts to get more recognition for it.

White Oak lost in the final four of their respective bracket, he was a big part of how they got there, to begin with. In the two games that watched he averaged just under 34 points per game, hitting a game tying three to send the game to overtime against Apex Friendship. He’s added some muscle and looks to be “The Guy” for a team that graduated a handful of guards.

Hobbs is a prospect who really elevated his stock with a move to White Oak in 2024-25. He moves to No. 54 in the latest rankings market correction. Hobbs produced 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game as the Vikings went 17-9 and an appearance in the third round of the NCHSAA 3A State Playoffs. He’s a shooting guard who knows how to make his presence when the ball comes his way. He’s one of a few names to keep an eye on with 7th Nation Warriors on the independent grassroots scene.

has done a nice job of making a name for himself in a White Oak uniform. Leading the squad with 13.5 points per game he has done a nice job of adjusting to his new teammates and has come up big time and time again. If White Oak plans to make a run in the postseason they’ll need some scoring production from their sophomore bucket getter.

Hobbs made quite the impression in the Enloe Eagles varsity backcourt in his varsity debut in 2023-24. He’s an operative scoring guard who can score both off the bounce and off the dribble who produced 8.4 PPG, 2.8 RPG and 1.0 APG on 33 percent shooting from behind the arc as a freshman. He ranked fifth in the CAP6 in 3-pointers made (45), according to MaxPreps. He’ll be one to keep an eye on with 7th Nation Warriors on the grassroots stage this spring/summer.
