One of the elite floor spacing bigs I saw all weekend, Niven allows his team to play five out offense with his prolific 3-point shooting ability. Knocking down five 3-pointers in the first game I caught in the morning, Niven was hitting shots from both the corners and above the break. With his size and length, Niven also blocked a couple shots at the rim. Needing to put on considerable weight and strength to play at the college level, Niven is a project right now but has incredible tools that are very rare to find. I think whatever program puts in the time and resources to fill out his frame could be rewarded with a great player down the road.

7/17/25: Lipscomb University watched this game, and Niven was most likely the reason. he is a fringe D1 player, to me. Elite shotblocker. Solid shooting touch. Slender but capable of adding weight as his body matures. The key will be development and if a D1 program sigs him then they are not going to get much out of him on the floor in year one. Which is fine. It just is not commonplace in the modern D1 landscape to sign a guy who is not starting Day 1. Hopefully, Niven gets a few D1 opportunities to select from. If not, then he will be a fantastic D2 player.

6/4/25: Niven is a skilled forward with a Kevin McHale-type game. He stands around 6-foot-8 and blocks shots often. Niven’s body is slender, and he must add heft ASAP. With enough space Niven is an average to above average three-point shooter. Defending the rim is something he excels at specifically with Trinity Christian Academy. He already set the school record for blocks. Niven does not have many flaws in his game. It would be nice to see him get better at rebounding “outside his area” and of course gain strength. A modern player that Niven kind of reminds of is Chet Holmgren. Realize he is not 7’1″ like the OKC center, but he has similar strengths and weaknesses as the former #1 overall pick.

2/26/25: After the game’s opening score, a wing three-pointer from Zack, his shooting fell off precipitously. Still, Niven provided the rim protection that enabled him to set the school’s block record. A strong shooter, Niven missed several and, certainly the most heart-wrenching miss of his young career, a wing three-pointer to send the game to overtime as the horn sounded.

2/10/25: Tall junior forward. Niven blocked a three-pointer from 19′ in the second quarter. Niven owns the school record for blocked shots in a single season. Niven looks about two inches taller than last year. Very active early in the third on the glass.
