One of the fastest risers in the 2025 class, Vickerstaff continues to improve and produce. On Friday I saw Vickerstaff get a handful of second chance opportunities, and he continued to space the floor as a stretch forward with a couple of 3-pointers. Vickerstaff also had a putback slam dunk that was the exclamation point of a strong second half performance for his team.

Vickerstaff absolutely caught fire on Friday as he knocked down five 3-pointers and a couple of them were ridiculous shots after fly by defensive closeouts and heavily contested. One of the bigger senior stock risers this entire season, Vickerstaff has fit in perfectly with Glenville and spoke about his preparation this off-season after the game and his attention to detail was impressive. An under the radar name in the class of 2025, college programs should take a look at Vickerstaff this spring as an unsigned senior playing AAU.

Making the transfer from Mayfield to Cleveland Glenville, Vickerstaff has fit in well with the Cleveland Senate league champions. Vickerstaff has a strong body and can really space the floor. I’ve also been impressed with the work Vickerstaff has made in the weight room improving his frame and continuing to produce at a high level on the court. I’ll be curious to see where he winds up at the next level as his recruitment has been fairly quiet so far.

Vickerstaff almost single-handily carried Glenville to a victory with a tremendous performance. I noticed Vickerstaff has added a lot of strength since the last time I watched him on the Prep Hoops Circuit in the summer. Combine that with his ability to stretch the floor with a handful of 3-pointers and his size, Vickerstaff looked like an intriguing small college prospect. Another aspect of his game I was impressed with was screen setting. While many players will avoid contact, Vickerstaff sets hard screens and then looks to score using the pick and pop style of play. Despite the tough loss, Glenville is still viewed as the favorite in the Cleveland Senate league.

Vickerstaff made the move to Cleveland Glenville as the Tarblooders are loaded this season in the Cleveland Senate league. He started the season with an 18 point performance in a blowout victory over CVCA, Vickerstaff fit in quickly in the new colors. Hoping to get up to Cleveland to catch Vickerstaff in person this winter, I’m hoping Glenville can make a deep playoff run with their experienced roster.

Vickerstaff showed flashes of a dangerous offensive game throughout the night. When he gets to a comfortable spot inside the arch off the dribble, he can turn his back and use his size to carve out a high-percentage look. Not a lot of 6’5” guys walking around with his combination of mobility, grace, and natural scoring ability. Lot of potential to be tapped into.

Xavier Vickerstaff dominated today in every aspect. He is a lefty with the ability to play any role his team needs. He has a nice 3pt shot, and really loves getting to his step back. Going right and stepping back with his left hand was his go to move for the day. He is strong and able to absorb contact and finish through contact. Even with his standout offensive game, the thing that stood out to me with Vickerstaff was how vocal he was on defense. Constantly communicating and be a leader brought energy to a team that looked defeated for stretches. He was always making sure his teammates were in the right spot and making sure he was being heard. I’m certain he was the most vocal 17U player of the day. He made his presence known.

Another prospect who has made a name at Prep Hoops events, Vickerstaff was a prospect I first caught on our circuit in July and then again at our 250 Expo in the fall. I was going to add him to our rankings after a strong showing at the expo but he followed that up with a solid performance with his high school program when I caught them in December. Vickerstaff has grown a couple inches and continues to fill out his frame. Able to play either forward position, Vickerstaff is tough to stop when he’s attacking downhill.

The flash plays I saw Vickerstaff make caught my eye as he’s grown a couple inches since I last saw him in July. The lefty wants to attack downhill and use his size at the rim while also showing he’s a capable shooter from 3-point range. Doing a little bit of everything offensively, from spotting up, attacking closeouts, setting screens, curling off screens, Mayfield used Vickerstaff in a variety of ways. If Vickerstaff can continue to become more consistent in his production, he should have small college programs recruiting him heavy in the spring and summer. A player to watch from the Prep Hoops Circuit.
